I have a samsung galaxy ace on talk talk contract.I got charged for making calls to a friends number.Talk Talk told me it was because the mobile number of friend had 44 in front it was listing as overseas (channel islands).Oddly the number (orange )never appeared in my logs on dates /times they stated. They refunded me.
i deleted the 44 immediately and now i am still getting charges to that particular number again - and again there is nothing in my logs to show those calls
Talk talk have been unable to offer an explanation- anyone know what is going on???

any mobile uk number will start either +44********* or just the number. the it make no difference. if your dialling the uk from overseas yourself then the +44 must be included
not sure what you mean here
try a factory reset on your mobile it should get rid of all problems but you will have put your numbers back on
dont back up the ace before you do this as it might back up the fault that's on it
It might not have anything to do with the +44, but the fact that it is a Channel Islands number. Not sure about this, but it is worth checking. I do know that when I am in Jersey I am charged for calls on my mobile.

Although the Jersey code looks like a UK number (01534), the Channel Islands are not part of the UK.
As the Channel Islands are not covered by the UK networks, even though the dialling code for the islands is listed in UK directories, there is no mobile coverage for any of the UK Mobile Network suppliers, as noted below

http://www.jersey.com/english/discoverjersey/aboutjersey/practical-information/pages/telephones-in-jersey.aspx

As such, as the receiving handset is based in the Channel Islands, then the connection is terminating in a "foreign" network, hence international "roaming" charges apply.

Further info - The receiving number is in the UK and has never been abroad and neither has the dialing number
