Please, please can anyone tell me how to contact BT by E.mail or live chat? I know I shouldn't say it, but I just cannot understand them on the telephone, or even hear them for that matter, I have searched the site and all it does is tell me to phone them - arrrrggghhhh. TIA rosy

Why wouldn't they be there on the 4th?

I must say in 30 odd years as a BT customer they've only let me down once.
Rosy many thanks as I've been advised to put all my issues in a letter and i needed the address! I did try the live chat and they did answer but said they couldn't help as they didn't deal with accounts, only technical problems.
Rosy, telephone wires must be a minimum of 5.2m (17') above a highway.
Unless your bungalow is in a dip, you should easily get that clearance if the cable is attached to you chimney......... possibly with the help of a short riser. (a metal pole much the same as is used for TV aerials.)

You're welcome Prudie, hope it works for you.
I don't know really Craft, just a gut feeling I suppose. I have had 25th Feb, 7th.March, 13th.March and now 4th.April, so can you blame me for having doubts? I also thought that they would discuss the matter of the pole with us, unless, hopefully they can do without it. I just hope I am wrong as I don't want to extend Virgin again.Hope I am as lucky as you when we do get connected -rosy

yes 17' was mentioned builder, there is a line connected to the chimney already but it is not high enough for the new regulations and also he thought that it was pulling the chimney slightly over due to age I suppose. The bungalow was built in 1931 and of course the wire would have to be replaced anyway, I hope they can use the riser thing you mention tho', sounds a solution if the chimney will support it, thank you- rosy
