No doicare, you won't find that plot in LAOL. The query line says that the novel 'inspired' the stage farce and cinema film, this would suggest that the title was the inspiration and not the story, hence LAOL and not AAOL. There is a reference to this in Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase & Fable under LAOL, which gives definite answer.
