I cannot speak from experience, but from what I understand there are fewer complications with the band and it is easier to reverse if required.

You have to be a member to view these forums, but as I recall, there were a lot of members who had had various methods of weight loss surgery, and there is some really good, comprehensive information. At the end of the day though, it has to be your decision.
Good luck!!

Hi cheshirecat,
I am having my band fitted on Wednesday, so if there is anything spcific you want to know about the procedure just let me know.
It has taken me 5 months from the 1st consultation.
I started at 143 k, and already am 130.7, mainly due to the milk diet that you have to be on for 9 days pre op.
Not all surgeons ask for this, some allow a low carb diet.
My op is being done on the NHS. There are criteria you have to pass, eg. what your BMI is, whether you have any other problems. I have arthirtis and high blood pressure.
I'd love to hear from you.

There are a couple of sites that are definitely cool for people in Denver or Albuquerque but the both offer a free report that has questions you should ask a bariatric surgeon before hiring him/her. There is general info about the lap band procedure and then a long list of questions you should ask but a lot of people don't know to ask. LapBandSurgeryDenver and LapBandSurgeryAlbuquerque are the sites.
