Hey, did you manage to speak to the avian vet?

I found this site I thought may interest you, I know you said you change her toys over frequently but they have some lovely stuff on here, designed for distraction from plucking and very reasonably priced [my credit card just took a bashing lol]

Thank you for your interest. I have found a local vet that said he could look at her for any mites. She is perfectly clear. Only advice was what I already have. She has had the foraging toys and things she has to do things with like the roll of paper she has to pull and things where she has to move the parts to get her treats she has not worked that one out yet as just got that last week. I will spray her more often with water. She does bath herself but may not be getting enough .

I would just like to add that this all started after I lost my Labrador 3 years ago which she watched continually. My 2 kids are often over with there dogs and I have the dogs when they go on holiday and I thought that might have helped her seeing them. She still speaks to them how I spoke to my lab.

Oh bless her, does sound like she still missing her old mate maybe. I've still been having a look round for you as to what it could be and what could help.

I also read about a spray like the ones you use to stop dogs chewing but can't find the link now :0/

I think the main thing I've read is that some birds just do it and as long as you feel you're doing all you can then the general consensus seems to be not to be too hard on yourself.
I had a Sun Conure that plucked and it was heart breaking, he looked like an eaten corn on the cob! Cured him by getting him a mate, but I know yours already has a friend.
I really hope you can find an answer.

A few weeks ago I bought one of those sprays for feather plucking but I found she was distressed when she saw the can . She don't mind being sprayed with water but as soon as she saw the can she was gone. So stopped using it as it might make her worse.

Just another quickie then, do you add Aloe vera to the water? Holland and Barrett do a 'juice' that you can add to the spray bottle, 1 part Aloe to 3 parts water, and use that alternately with plain water [or the feathers can become sticky, it won't stop her plucking but will help to condition her existing feathers and sooth any sore skin from the plucking.
I'm not sure as I've not used it myself but I think this is the stuff....

Right... just got back and that is the stuff, its on offer right now so only cost me just over £5 [thought I'd treat Dave whilst I was there lol].

Yes lots of good ideas on there most of them I have tried like I leave the radio on all day then tv in the evening she knows all the soap tunes lol. I shall keep looking there for any more info. Thanks anyway for your help .
