No he shouldn't. His political views are obviously his own not the police's. what he said was distasteful but not illegal.

Contrary to the current media hype, Mrs T was unpopular with public sector workers. And his views on Cameron chime with Police Morale being very low currently.

funny because it was her that gave these guys a decent wage. Yes he should be sacked, we have the right to expect more from a police officer. In fact I have serious reservations about anyone getting involved in these websites.

Yes I think he should be sacked. It can't be ignored now his remarks are out there and its not the sort of thing that I expect to hear from someone from the police. But honestly I think some people need to get their brain into gear before spouting off on twitter.

Police officers are supposed to be mature people who are able to make objective decisions. Whatever Sergeant Scott’s views of Mrs Thatcher, to say that he hoped an 87 year old woman suffered a degrading and painful death suggests his judgement is not as sound as it might be. He also suggested that the world would be a ‘better place’ if David Cameron, too, were dead. Like it or not, police officers are expected to demonstrate higher standards than would be expected of those in many other professions. The fact that his remarks may not cross the line of criminality is not relevant.

I know it is always recommended that the police force (sorry, “service”) should be representative of the society it serves. Well this is what happens when that recommending is realised.

BTW, just heard that Sgt Scott has resigned.

Hmm, I'd be willing to bet he keeps his pension. Whereas if he'd been sacked he'd probably have lost it.

People without brains really shouldn't be allowed on Twitter or Facebook - but then anyone with at least half a brain probably doesn't go on there anyway.
