Car Tax??
I have just got another car from a garage and it was sold without any tax, I informed my insurance comany about the change in car and they was sending out the policy paper work to allow me to tax the new car as my other insurance paperwork had my old car reg on it. While I was waiting for the paperwork to arrive I was stoped by the police and issued with a 60 fine for no car tax, I did explain to the police that I was just waiting for my insrance docs to get the tax and he said I would still have to pay the fine... Surely this can not be correct as I would already lose 3 weeks worth of tax, Should I pay the fine or go to court?? comments welcome

You could try the court route but the offence if driving a vehicle without displaying a valid tax disk, which you have done unfortunatly.
Whenever i buy a car from a garage i always get them to tax it for me, normally offering to give them the extra cash if needed. It just saves the chance of getting stopped, i know its no help to you but there you go.
Maybe write a letter to the chf constable complaining about the policeman stating you knew you were technically illegal but explain your circumstances etc etc, it wont get you the 60 back but it should make you feel better, and maybe help the next person.
