Just a word of caution. The Lasiks procedure is quite successful here in the U.S, with about 700,000 Lasik procedures being performed annually in the at an average cost of $2,000 per eye. The elective surgery, not typically covered by insurance, is used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, a visual defect resulting in blurred vision... around 90% of the time, according to one site.
Problem is, the procedures that are less than successful leave the patient with severe conditions that are rarely corrected. Most usually the problems involve "dry eye" syndrome and the patient is required to use eye drops several times a day for the rest of their lives.
We've a friend that had the procedure done about 7 years ago and is still trying to achieve some kind of relief...
