Tv Licence Been Round (Scottish Law?) - Procurator Fiscal

HI there the Tv Licensing people were round this morning and they asked a whole lot of questions and then gave me a form saying that they are taking this to the Procurator Fiscal (I live in Scotland) and I may be prosecuted. Do I have to go to court? What could the procurator fiscal do? And could this be on my criminal record. If so I may never get a job. I have had to borrow the money from my parents to buy one and they are nagging at me so much I literrally have earache.

DJH, I think you will find that TV detector vans can detect a TV in use, even in flats. If there is not a licence held at that address then it is a criminal offence and the person owning the TV will be charged. Easy enough to find a name.

maggie if you can find any recorded incidence of a TV detector van providing evidence allowable in any court in the UK I'll agree with your point. If you can find any evidence whatsoever that a TV detector van carries the technology that can prove you are watching a TV then I will agree with you. If you can show me where the TV Licensing authority have any right to ask you your name or enter your property by force let me know,

Can you not understand how frustrating it is trying to get a job and being constatly knocked back and then you find people from poland being given a chance

DJH, I'm only going by an experience my sister-in-law had. She didn't have a TV licence and tried to bluff it out when the TV licencing crowd knocked at her door. They could tell her which station she was watching and she lived in a block of flats. Resulted in a hefty fine.

I would say that a sentence of almost 80 words without any punctuation,speaks for itself.

It also is rather difficult for the reader to understand.

If the form says you "may be prosecuted, it also means you might not, so you might not have to go to court

exactly and i am still waiting for another ABer to come back to me on my point that it is illegal to threaten a fine in the tv license mailings as no case has been brought when they are just sending out reminders,
