The neighbours have a party just getting into swing. (They are actually swingers, but this is not 'one if those' parties.) They have invited me round....
Now folks, this is a dilemma cos I really love a good party. But, as some of you know, I am one week post-major-op, a bit delicate, on painkillers and my middle bit swaddled in dressings. I will not have the willpower to refuse alcohol (I mean come on, I'm ill but not on my death bed).
Are you a recovering alcoholic? If so keep away as you'll end up sliding down the slippery slope like my uncle before he died of liver disease and you say you just had an operation? Drinking could stop the antibiotics working and lead to a serious infection and also you have to watch out for people wildly dancing who might kick, punch or elbow you in your stomach and what if a large group fight kicks off, you could be stuck right in the middle so i'd avoid it like the plague.
If you are taking painkillers, nothing to stop you going to the party, but I'd avoid the alcohol. Too soon after major surgery, it'll go straight to your head. I've had three lots of serious surgery in the past three years and I do know what I'm talking about. The first, and only, time I had a drink within a week of surgery I was so unwell. The GP asked me just what I expected, drinking after all the opiates.
