Well done giveup, it is such a great feeling when you know your home is all yours. We paid ours off some time ago, it was such a relief.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Ax pubs are below par.

If you don't want to drive the choice is pretty dire, or you take your life in your hands by walking/hiking to the one opposite Miller's.

My favourites are in Chideock or Honiton and they are definitely a drive away.

It's a nice feeling being mortgage free though!

Tytherleigh Arms is quite good, Hunters Lodge passable,like the Dolphin at Beer and the Masons Arms in Branscombe.

I never bothered with The Hunters Lodge, I was convinced it would be a tourist trap because of it's prominent position on the A35....which the one opposite Miller's is........

The Mason's in Branscombe is nice but there again I like Branscombe.

I didn't try the others when I was living there.

I paid mine off a last week with my savings. It was an interest only mortgage which I switched to repayment when notified about the shortfall in the endowment policy. Just waiting for the policy to mature now :o)
