Would like a tablet just to play about with really. I am retired and not good at these things I am between these 2 can an one help?

I am very pleased with my Google Nexus 7, consistently given excellent ratings by the techie media and costs much less than the iPad.
It has a 7" screen which I find far easier to hold than a 10" and the screen quality is excellent.

Consider the 7 inch version of the Tab2: cheaper, more portable and you won't get hand ache after holding it for a while unlike the 10 inch. I have the 7 inch to mess about on and am pleased with it.

carphone warehouse had a good deal a while back

Triggs recommended the Google Nexus 7 and I bought two. So far so good, no problem as yet. My niece and I are very pleased with it.
