Statins

Has anyone had any side effects from statins? I couldn't take Simvastatin so was given Atorvastatin, but after some months have suddenly started having the same reaction as before. Would be interested to hear from others taking this drug.

No problems with the simvastatin put since taking the atorvastatin have had cramp in feet and hands, plus ringing in my ears, so I am going to see if I can go back onto the simvastatin at a lower dose....
I take Simvastatin with quite a few of those side effects mentioned, the trouble is we tend to accept what we are told by Dr. I have only just had the nerve to change from my usual Metformin to a slow release type much better for me, but it took me a while to get up the courage to tackle the Dr about it, shouldn't be like that, but there it is. Now perhaps I will ask to try Atorvastatin. Thanks all, interesting discussion
I have tried Simvastin, Pravastatin, Exetermibe, and have now been put on Atorvastin. Have been on them, 20mg for several months, and so far no side effect that I am aware of, but the others gave me terrible muscle pain in my back. I stopped and started each of them, to find out if it was definitely the medication. My cholesterol was such that it was decided to try another, so far so good, and next week I have an appointment at the doctor when I am expecting to be given a higher dosage of Atorvastin.
My husband is on Simvastin, and has had no problems.

I took Simvastatin for a couple of weeks but stopped after having had three nights with no sleep and cramps in my legs. I was put on Atorvastatin 10mg and have been on it for a month now with no physical side effects although I do feel very down. I don't know whether this is due to the statins or is unconnected.
