You can get a topical steroid over the counter at chemists called Quinoderm, which contains Benzyl Peroxide that is used for fighting the bacteria that causes spots. As mentioned in another answer, seeing your GP may also help, as there are many medications on offer.

For a really great quick fix remedy try the following ......
Apply a small amount of toothpaste on the spot (s) ..make sure you use white paste (not the gel type tooth paste)...leave over night ...and I promise you the next morning you'll find that the spot has dried up a great deal!
Also the paste takes a lot of the redness away.
If you do the above over a few nights you should see an improvement.
