I Have Just Recieved A Magnolia Yellow Rose ..............at The Moment

it is only about 20 inches long with a bare root. Can I plant it in a pot .if so how big should it be.? I was hoping to keep it a smaller size rather than full size. Many thanks

There must be 20 or 30 Magnolia variety yellow roses and most of them are hybrids... meaning they are one rose stock crossed with another which produces a small 'knot' just below the branching on the main branch. The rose should be planted in a pot deep enough to have the roots spread out so they don't crush one another, but the hybrid graft knot must be above the ground. Your rose is most likely a grandiflora or floribunda, meaning it has more than one rose on each tem, unlike a Tea Rose which has only one per stem... Good luck... it'll look like a burst of sunlight in your garden... at least ours do here in the western U.S.

Plant with a small handful of bonemeal and a banana, I always do that and all my roses are flourishing. I live in the Fens of East Anglia.
