Can someone give me a rough idea of the value of the above. It's in reasonable condition, three doors. Mileage probably under average for it's age. Thanks.

Mine was written off five years ago due to vandal damage. The insurance company gave me £500. Mine sounded to be the same as yours re condition and mileage.

Thanks all. It's a really good car and it's served me well. The man who MOTs it says Nissan Micra are one of his favourite cars for reliability and being sound and he should know as he's been in the business for 40 years.
It has been an insurance write off a while ago simply because someone made a dent in the driver door, and the insurance company said I could have the value of the car, I think it was, about 6 or 7 hundred to repair it myself. So I had the car door professionally repaired and then it had it's VIC check. Although it was written off for cosmetic damage, does that still lower it's value? TIA

Anyone got any idea as to my last question. Thank you very much :-)
Marijn, does it say anything on the log book IE category b,c or anything like that ?.

///Done the annual brakes replacement recently?///

You must be very heavy footed if you need to do that,
try looking further ahead and then drive accordingly!

Thanks for answering Tonyav, I'm not sure what you mean. On the log book it says "validation character - B" (is that what you were asking?) It also says on log book Former Keepers - 4.
Baldric, I think you've answered on the wrong thread.

I've just discover the value of metal is not so good at the moment, and it's only worth £160 scrap.
marijn, I still think the best suggestion is to try to trade it in. My OH traded in his last car and got £100 off the new (second hand) car.

I loved my Micra, I object to the rustbucket comments on here! - but yours is 16 years old, it's done you well. A trade in (irrespective of the bits and pieces needing fixed) could be best option.
Question Author
Thank you boxtops, but the car I'm getting is from a friend and he doesn't need my Micra. I think it'll be a big hassle for me to sell it. Does anyone know if there's a chance I could get more than £160 for scrapping it?
I think you'll have to ask around your local dealers, or put an ad in the local paper selling it for parts?
"validation character - B" (is that what you were asking?)

No Marijn, that is an anti fraud measure by the DVLA.

What I mean is does it have a write off category letter on your log book.

I got it professionally repaired, then it went for a VIC check and then I got a new log book with the info about what had happened to it on the front of the log book. Thanks for all your answers.

PS It was not declared a wreck. The insurance company said it would be cheaper for them to give me the money to buy a replacement car i.e £600 or £700, than for them to organise a repair. It was only cosmetic damage to the door, but insurance companies would rather give you the money, than repair a low-value car. They said I could spend the money on getting the car repaired myself if I wished, as long as it went for a VIC check after. Which is what I did.
Question Author
I'll have a look for that, Tonyav, when I get home. I will also look for what model it is, Methyl. Thanks for all your help.
Question Author
It's a Micra SR 3 door hatchback. Re the special notes on the new log book, it says: 1. Declared new at first registration.
2. Substantially repaired and/or accident damaged; identity checked on 12 10 2009.
I'm tempted to sell it as scrap metal, but feel I'm being disloyal to it, as it's been a good car, and still is.
Question Author
I've been offered £200 for it. Thanks for all the answers.
