The easiest way to open a PPTM file is to double-click on it and let your PC decide which default application should open the file. If no program opens the PPTM file then you probably don't have an application installed that can view and/or edit PPTM files.
Use Notepad or another text editor to open the PPTM file. Many files are text-only files meaning no matter the file extension, a text editor may be able to properly display the file's contents.
My grateful thanks to all those who provided me with these answers - they have all been very helpful. I found that I was using an old version of Powerpoint and when I used a newer version, the file opened without any problem.
Glad you got it sorted. Not sure what johnymsmith is talking about. Notepad certainly won't open it (well not into anything that doesn't look like heiroglyphics)
Sometimes copying and pasting from websites without any knowledge of the problem is not a wise thing to do.
