I thought I'd like to have a go at making something. I have been having a look at the Kaffe Fassett tapestry kits and wondered if anyone has any tips about what I should do and where I should start.

Is it a good place to start?

what you get in the kit is the front only. You have to buy a square of velvet or whatever to make it into the cushion, and provide your own pad.

... or I have framed some of mine, my mother framed some of hers too, particularly a big one she worked. Hand-stitched art.

It looks like cross stitch without the crosses. How do the stitches run without any spaces, boxy?
