Internet Keeps Dropping

Since Friday, my internet connection has been flickering. Is on for a while and suddenly drops, or just seems very slow. Yesterday, it seemed fine for most of the day. Today it keeps losing connection again.
On Friday, i rang Sky (broadband provider) and BT (line provider). They both spent quite a bit of time on phone, with various tests and neither could find anything wrong.
Does anyone know how to fix it please? (please explain in words of one syllable)

Change from Sky! I had the same problems, and changed broadband and phone to Orange/EE, and after a few teething problems my broadband speed has doubled!

We have Orange/EE and it's not very fast. Think it depends where you live and how far you are from the exchange??

Thanks islasmum. I won't touch orange, due to previous experience. Is this typical for Sky? I haven't had any problems up til now

Try disconnecting electrics for 10mins for modem to reset. Have you got ADSLs on all your phone connections

Yes, tambo. I've tried switching router on/off. That usually helps for a while. Tried resetting router and unscrewed front of phone socket and plugged into "test socket". There is adsl box, yes.
