Right - so Mr Spudqueen and I are driving to Rimini on Italys Adriatic Coast. We were originally going to drive from the UK all the way there, but decided that it was just as cost effective to fly to Zurich and hire a car there. This means that we have one free day and night between Zurich and Rimini and are thinking of spending it in the Italian Lakes, which we have never been to. Any ideas as to which lake, and where to spend the night?

There were 4 or 5 wonderful places around Lake Garda, but I don't know if that's on your route
I recall going to Verona- that was nice
Your route should take you past the top of Maggiori and the bottom of Logano and Como, so the choice is really good.
Mum and Dad are in Lake Como at the mo. I can find out all the details from them when they get back next Thursday for you.

They have been to Lake Garda too so I will get all that info from them too xx
Stresa on lake Maggiore is delightful, lots of restaurants, a visit to Isola Pescarore just offshore is good fun. The ferries are much cheaper than the launches whose 'captains' tout for custom on the quay.
Bardolino on Garda is lovely.
if you're in Verona, see if you can go to the open-air opera in the Roman amphitheatre there. Magical.

Thanks guys. Will be giving Lake Garda I miss I think as it will take us too far out of our way. Am looking at Lakes Maggiore and Como. Stresa looks really nice. Think I could spend a week there!
