Hi all, I'm looking for a very basic mobile that I can give as a present to an elderly mate. Won't need a camera and certainly won't need internet access. Is anything like that made any more?

Thanks a lot

I bought this one for my Dad

There is also a small torch built into the top and an emergency button on the back.
Bought one from either Asda or Tesco - can't remember which. Cost £2.99 for a very basic phone. Use as a phone or text. Pay as you go contract - sorted.
How's about a Nokia 3210 or a 3310 - they're still available if you look.

There's a 3310 on Amazon at the mo:

I bought a Nokia 1616 last summer for £12.97 plus £10 initial topup from Tesco. I also wanted a plain and simple mobile, but one that I could keep in the car in case of breakdown. It's a pay-as-you-go phone, so there's no need to pay a monthly contract, but I have to use it occasionally to maintain the SIM card registration. You can find them on the internet now for £8.99 upwards.

Thanks so much guys. Very much like the £2.99 idea. Will look into that later.

When it says sim-free, Stephen_G, does that mean it works without a sim card or that you can just buy one on any network?
3210 lol, I loved my 3210!!! a bit of a dinosaur now.

And thank you Gizmonster and Bookbinder. I didn't realise you can still get this kind of stuff.

Regards to you all.
I hope that you find a suitable phone.
The one I posted will work on any network - never thought to include that fact...
