She may even be able to force the sale of the house (or get your dad to buy her out of her half) so she can get half the value of the house.

My mum and dad divorced 24 yrs ago and my mum wanted to move away so my dad moved bk in the family house and has kept it going for the past 20 + yrs but my dad wants my mum to start paying her way but she cnt afford it the house is to be left to us kids any way that's why they never sold it befor ,
but now my mum as said she wants her name off the mortgage but it cost to much .but my dad said he asked his solicitor and she can wright a letter to say this but she need a whiteness to sign it too she just wants it sorting as well as my dad does..
