Dogs And Hot Weather
Please can I appeal to dog owners to keep their dogs at home in this heat, they are much better off in the shade with a bowl of water than going to the shops or for walks in the heat of the day, my neighbour brought his greyhound/whippet home yesterday and she had a fit and died on the doorstep, the vet gave him a right telling off, and so did I, he is very upset and knows it was his fault, early morning or just as the suns goes down if you can, and not to far please.

Having the doors and windows open lets the heat in. I hate this weather so keep out of it myself and keep it out of my home. Oh and the fan should be on the floor as that's where the coolest air is. The cat is sat in front of the fan at the moment with her eyes shut:-)
Firstly I think it's out of order the vet and the OP giving him "a right telling off"
My dog follows me out in the garden and will lay in the sun and when he goes back inside he'll lay on the back of the sofa in the sun.
He goes out for a walk first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon, if he doesn't go out for his walks he sits at door whining, unless its raining then you'd have to carry him out the door!

I'm still walking my dog as usual from 10ish in the morning and he's fine. We just go at his pace and find all the shady bits and of course I take plenty of water. He wouldn't like it one bit if his daily walk was disrupted and he couldn't meet his other doggy friends, it's just a case of being sensible.
