First Super Casino to be in Manchester
The first Super Casino will be in Manchester.
I'm just disgusted that these things are even being allowed, but its on par for the course of this goverment,
Afraid that during the ten years they've been in, I can't think of one really good thing that they've done to benefit this country, almost everytging has been to the dettiment of it,
Can any of you think of any good things to say about them?.

Introduction of the minimum wage
Abolition of handguns
Control of Interest rates handed out of political control
Good Friday agreement and peace in Northern Ireland
Abolition of Foxhunting (depending on your opinion)
Kicking most of the hereditary peers out of the house of Lords (more work needed there I feel)
Employment up by 2 million since 1997
Best ever school results at age 11,14 ,16 and 18

Is that right Jake, lets see,
Abolition of Handguns, yes they did, didn't they, at present, there's more crime being committed by villains with Handguns than at any time in our history, Oops, I forgot, it can't be happening because the guns are illegal.
Hereditory peers, the only reason they did that, was to make their goverment more autonomous.
I could carry on, but I take it your a Bliar lover, so it'd be a waste of time.

There are a few things... but I find it hard to say exactly what they are .Jakes points are quite good --I do not agree with foxhunting and am pleased that they have some sort of peace in NI albeit a bit shaky. Interest rates are sky high..could not care less about peers and agree there.School results ..Hmmm... have degree...work in call centre ....but ....my neck of the woods has been granted a smaller licence and quite frankly a casino is the last thing we need.We have a high level of unemployment as it is and OK ..the building of it will provide jobs and people will be employed to run it ....our local councillors are probably rubbing their hands with glee at all the backhanders. But ..there are far more important things where I live that need to be addressed than a casino in the town where half the people are unemployed and live on benefits because they can't get work.
It will just encourage people to gamble money that they do not have in the first place .It's alright in the more affluent places where losing a hundred quid on bet on a roulette table is peanuts to some but for those that live in hope of a better lifestyle by gambling it's just ridiculous.
And if people want to travel to Great Yarmouth in the middle of winter to bung their money in a fruit machine they must want their heads tested .One gust of the east wind would surely drive them away !!

well ....
control of / influence over interest rates is still in government hands - the setting of interest rates is the function of the Bank of England
law and order -
abolition of hand guns -- well, I don't think that handguns have ever been legal in modern times in the UK? Handguns hav certaily not been 'abolished' ... more shootings more confiscation of illegally held guns etc etc
prisons ... hold a record number of prisoners (10 years opportunity hasnt produced the result) and, now no room for more - welsh pedophile sentence suspended / drug dealer not given jail sentence etc
Good Friday Agreement - the architect of this agreement was John Major ... whose initiative ultimatel led to this agreement ... some good work by Mo Mowlem as well
Abolition of foxhunting .... another non-enforceable piece of legislation ----
Lords - debateable --- better to have cash for peerages in there now?
Best ever school results debateable .... are kids better educated now? Right from wrong / Respect for elders / rounded-citizens ready to take their place in a decent society?
Employment up by 2million .... debateable ... should it have been more .... what are these jobs .... real jobs / training schemes / part-time / going nowhere service industry
debt -
huge increase in national debt - huge increase in eprsonal debt - reduction in persions for many (not for MPs though)
foreign policy -
gone to the dogs (poodle variety)
