Was at the doctors earlier today (not for me) and I had a go on the blood pressure machine in the waiting room. The result came out as 133 Systolic, 56 Diastolic, BPM 48.

I'm 34, athletic, eat pretty well etc, always had a low pulse rate (always been very fit and active so not worried about that before) but never taken much notice of blood pressure.

From what I've just read the Systolic somewhere between normal and hypertension - Indicating relatively high blood pressure, and the diastolic is very low indicating low blood pressure.

I'm not sure how it can be high and low at the same time, is it anything to worry about?

For an athletic 34 year old......those figures look fine.
wish my BP readings looked as good :)
Ditto Lazygun!!
Mine have been hovering around 190/90 recently, if mine were as good as yours I would be very happy!
I'd die for readings like that ... :)

I was always told that (unless the Systolic is really excessive, which yours isn't) the key figure is the Diastolic and yours is excellent.
freshfruit.......you ask a very interesting question when you posed the question........" How can the BP be high and low at the same time.

Purely as a precaution, I would just check with your GP concerning the BP figures and if he could just check your heart.......purely precautionary.
every person's body physiology is different, your systolic bp is slightly higher but the diastolic bp is lower than normal indicating pressure in smaller vessels viz.capillaries is lower, you should increase your salt intake a bit and do check your bp regularly, you can visit this site for more information :
