I'm sure this has been asked before!! My son threw up all over the carpet and his bed; I've managed to remove the stain out of the carpet quite well (using carpet mousse) however the mattress still smells so bad and so does the carpet a bit. Is there anything that can remove the smell? Many thanks!

Baking powder (bicard of soda) It's great for getting the smell of pee out of matresses too. sprinkle it on, quite a lot, and leave it for a few hours, over night if possible, then hoover as normal.
When my kids were little there was a great product called nursery mousse it was in a foaming aerosol and left things smelling lemony, it even sorted out a major milk spillage in my car. I would give the bicarb method a go first though cheaper and more natural!

There is a product called Odour Free, which is obtainable from Vets or pet product suppliers (often called simple solution, which is cheaper) It is a spray which acts biologically on the area to remove the smell and stain. If used as per instructions, it is brilliant!!!

It doesn't mask the smell, just gets rid of it. It might need a couple of applications before it goes completely. I wouldn't be without it. (It does involve wetting the area first, but I have never had a problem with this)

Thank you everyone. Just a query on the bicarb of soda - do you sprinkle it on dry?? Or wash it in with water? Thank you!!
sprinkle it on dry, leave it for hours, then vacuum off (I've had a few amused looks from my son when he has caught me hoovering the matress )
mycatis, hoovering the mattress is OK, carry on and enjoy! It's good housekeeping practice (bed bugs - sorry, folks, but we've all got them!)
