Rain Residue

Why is it that the rain that has been left on the plastic garden furniture from last Friday has turned red. Is there something in the rain that we dont see !!

It's been the same here for some time, TOH......sides of the pond are reddish and like you say....rain residue leaves a reddish dust.

Sounds ominous like there is some kind of dust in atmosphere that they are not telling us about?

The rain that we had on Saturday night came up from the continent. Maybe it was carrying dust with it from somewhere. I remember when I was a kid there was a load of red dust that came across on the wind from Spain. Our teacher had a white Hillman Imp and she took us outside to see it and sure enough, the roof was covered in red dust.

Yes it is dust carried with the rain , quite common I have seen it a few times.

If that's the case I just wish it would bring some continuous hot weather with it,instead of fits and starts!

If it's on your car windscreen, rinse it off with plenty of water. This dust often contains quartz. Don't just use your wipers, or you'll get scratches on the glass.
