Wasps Nest

Friend has a nest in his brick shed.doesn't want to pay council to remove it I suggested lighting a couple of disposable bbq trays and blocking the bottom of door with wet towels...any other ideas ?

I've used aerosol Wasp Nest destroyer with excellent results. The nest has to be visible and within reach, although you don't have to get too close. mine was from Lidl and was less than a fiver (think £3.99).

Im sorry but principal would go out of the window when it comes to wasp nests, if you count up the cost of the stuff you are going to buy to try to get rid of them yourselves and that's assuming you are successful you may as well pay the council to do it properly and safely

Doff wasp killer powder. Puff it onto the nest entrance after dusk when the wasps have all returned for the night. Seems it gives off fumes that does for them. Also, if there are any that walk on it later, they carry it right into the nest. From your local discount hardware shop.

I'd get the council in (and have done in the past). They have the proper protective clothing and the proper kit. I wouldn't take the risk of doing it myself, an angry dopy wasp is not to be reasoned with.

Our local council wanted £94 to deal with ours. We got some powder from B&Q and it did the trick.

We used derris dust on ours - gone in a trice. Trouble is that derris is illegal now so unless you've got some lying around in the shed you won't be able to buy any. Bet that's what the council uses though!
