It was a bright October morning in September last July,The flowers were singing sweetly and the mud shone in the sky,The sun lay thick upon the ground the birds were full in bloom,When I went down the cellar to sweep an upstairs room.

My Mum used to say that nonsense rhyme years ago and I often wonder where it came from.Anyone know?

Google the Canadian humorist, Stephen *******. It sounds like his work.
My Dad told us one when i was a kid:

One fine day, in the middle of the night,
Two dead men came out to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.

No idea if these "contradiction" poems come froim tho.
I can remember being told that poem as a child, but again I have no idea who wrote or even the rest of it. I would love to find it.

Good grief! My post above should be "Lea" followed by that bird that crows in the morning - a 7 letter name.
