The grout in my shower cubicle is getting black mildew on it. I have tried the sprays you can buy, and also used a grout pen to re-white it, but it never lasts long. What should I do? Will it need new grout or can anyone suggest a way of refreshing the existing grout that will last a while.

I got a tube of 'Forever White' grout reviver in arctic white, made by Ever Build, from E bay, it cover 20 sq meters, is waterproof and has mould shield, it's fantastic!......Took a little time to apply, but that was nearly two years ago and the grout is still bright white, can't remember what it cost but I'm sure it wasn't very expensive............

Try a weak solution of bleach and a toothbrush effective but time consuming.
I tried a tile grout refresher you can buy (in a tube). Don`t bother, it made a hell of a mess. After I painstakingly scraped all the bits of tile refresher off the tiles, I made a paste of bleach and taking soda and scrubbed it with a toothbrush which worked.

You can buy spray bleach, which i used all over the shower, left it overnight, sprayed it off and all mildew was gone and the tile grout was far better, almost back to whie. some months later black stuff appeared again, so this time I used some of my ordinary bleach from a asda cheapo bottle, put it into the spray bottle with some water, sprayed again, and next day all white and lovely.
It really does remove the black mould, our shower never looked so good.
i use dettol mould and mildew remover just spray it on and leave it and have also painted on neat bleach with an old paintbrush which works just as well if left on overnight and then rinsed thoroughly.
if you have an enamel bath dont let bleach settle on it wipe if off soon as poss

Thanks for all your answers. There's a few ideas to try there!
Have you tried Cilit Bang? (the one in the purple bottle) I did a test (yes I am sad!!) 1 half wall with bleach, the other with Cilit Bang & the Cilit Bang came up slightly whiter.
Also easier to use with the spray bottle, just scrub with a small childs toothbrush & rinse off.
^ But does the small child stay in place for long enough?
^ Sorry, that was me ..
Neat bleach left overnight then attack it with a toothbrush & steam cleaner. Remember to wear old clothes & goggles....not beer ones:-)
I used a grout pen on the tiles over the bath, but some of the white stuff dripped on to the bath (an oldish one, pink plastic-type surface - sounds horrid but isn't!) and I can't get it off. I'm scared to use anything abrasive on it so at the moment am just learning to live with it...

Hi,
I like the sound of that "Forever White". I think I'll look for some of that, but I'll probably have a go at the grout with bleach before applying it.
Thanks again for all your suggestions.
