A dressing down perhaps, it was not as if it was life threatening situation,
but sacked even after giving an apology, a little over the top I think, and I am not on my own apparently.

at work we are asked to offer products at the till, we don't have the option not to ask, it's mandatory and a part of our job, usually it is confectionary, or sometimes a particular product, maybe there's a promotion on lottery, it's tough enough scanning stuff, taking payment, bagging up the purchases, dealing with questions from the person in front of you, we ask the customer of they would like some chocolate, water, whatever, we can't not ask in case they are a mystery shopper, but also we can't decide if the customer may or may not be from a religion that cannot gamble, or is on a fasting obsrvance, this is very similar, people get what they say they want surely.
I don't think she ought to have been sacked, is it a case of the buck stopped with her ? Too many Chiefs....
A solution might be children with differing dietary needs wear a colour coded rubber bracelet indicating their particular 'need'.
Kids love those bands/bracelets so might be keener to wear them rather than feel they stand out with badges etc.. I'm sure it could be managed by the Education Authorities to make them sufficiently unique without having having a virtual arrow pointing at their heads.

Especially if the stories have negative connotations, much simplifier to suspect that "we haven't heard the full story", or that "the Daily Mail is at fault", can't this be said no matter who the messenger of bad news is, or does it only concern the Daily Mail or any other right thinking newspaper?

Or any other news publication for that matter, they all have their own particular agenda to get across, the difference being is the fact that the Daily Mail will attack both sides Right or Left, unlike the Guardian which is very careful to protect it's left thinking readers.
