Hi hellibobs I live 7 miles north west of Preston near what was the largest mental hospital in the country, but no, I didn't used to live in it!

Dunfermline produced Big Country, Barbara Dickson, the singer, Lindsay McDonald, the runner, Moira Shearer, the ballet dancer and of course Gordon Brown lives up the road (although he originally came from kirkcaldy)

Celtigra3 - you're near me! I went to the same school as Dougray Scott (in Glenrothes), which is only a few miles from where the Proclaimers lived (Auchtermuchty), and a few miles (in the opposite direction) from where Ian Rankin (crime author) and Jim Baxter (footballer) grew up. I work in Kirkcaldy, birthplace of Adam Smith, hometown of Gordon Brown and Val McDermid (another crime author), and not far from hometown of Jack Vettriano (artist). As for Dunfermline, what about Nazareth (band), The Skids (ditto), Richard Jobson and sprinter Ian Mackie! Fife roolz!
