OG; I don't think computers are clever enough to do that. Though we can have no problem distinguishing instantly whether it is a cat or a dog at several hundred yards, a computer cannot do so with any degree of certainty because they both similarly have fur, 4 legs, tail, ears, similar colours etc. Imagine it's problem dealing with flowers.
PS I still don't understand about the pork scratchings.

it looks like soapwort

that is saponaria officinalis rosa (pink) plena (double) and is a garden escapee. It smells delicious, especially in the evening and is a magnet for moths.

OG; Penny dropped! A computer can recognise a face by the proportions within it full face and in profile. We are able to recognise people from oblique angles which is too much for a computer. woofgang could recognise that one individual, unique flower, from assorted angles by knowing the species from memory.
