have come up on my chest area, rather red looking, could this possibly be a reaction to the Naproxen, need to know sooner than later, if so as will stop taking it. They itch too, which hasn't helped..

Not necessarily if it is relieving the pain........anti-histamine cream or similar would alleviate the itching.....then.....monitor the situation for about 48 hours.

Looking at your other post emmie and as a total laywoman I really think you should ask for an MRI scan and try some ways of overcoming the claustrophobia (a couple of my students did a sort of meditation/visualisation which they found helped)
It does sound like a degree of herniation that isn't sorting itself out. Nerve pain is horrible.

thank you, i tried twice in the past, if only there were stand up type scanners, its the lying down, being totally encased, like in a coffin that gets to me. I did a CT scan with the help of meds, that was a sight easier, more open and not so crematorium like.. if you get my drift.

you have to be awake, they talk to you through the headphones or whatever they use now, i ended up yelling to get me out the last time, i did try again but the fact remains i hate enclosed spaces.

I thought as much, but I don't know that much about the effects of sedatives but couldn't a small morphine (or such) dose make you 'happy' and carefree but still awake? Sorry, not really helping just asking questions!

They have stand up MRIs in the States. They do exist. I doubt the NHS has any but maybe you could fine one privately in this country.

Not sure why you have to be awake, surely they must have to scan people who are unconscious.

Apart from making sure you are ok and sometimes a progress report, unless you have to actively do anything, like breath in and hold it at intervals (that was a contrast dye one of my bowel though) would they need you alert and awake?
