I didn't bother with extra or missing letters, so this 'd' (from 'lid') could be totally wrong!

E=English - all reversed with R as the missing letter.

I had it more simply as SO (in due course) VEIL (cover) E (English) + missing R all reversed (on return) = RELIEVOS
