I am getting married in June 07 and my passport needs renewing for next year too. Now do I renew it as my married name or will I have to renew it as maiden name and then have another one done after we are married (arrgh, money!)? Be grateful if someone could advise. Thanking you in advance.

You will only be able to change it to your married name when you have your marriage certificate, so it depends when you intend to travel I guess.
If it is a question of money then there is no need to change it into your married name you could just continue as your name now until it needs renewing in 10 years or whatever. If there is a problem with names on tickets etc. you can always carry your marriage certificate with you just to be on the safe side.

It tells you that you can apply for a passport in your married name up to 3 months before the ceremony
My passport needed renewing about the same time that I married. You need to fill in a couple of different sections on the form, that covers both. Fortunately, they only charge you one fee, which is surprising as you tend to get milked for everything in this country!
Sorry to disgree Sozzie but that's not true! I had to do this last year when i married. My passport ran out just over 2 months before i got married. The Registrar had to sign a form stating the date i was to get wed and the name i would be taking. I sent this off with the passport application. When i got my new passport, it was in my married name and was only valid from my wedding date. The only thing is, if you plan to travel anywhere abroad (hen night/weekend?) within 3 months of you getting married then you can't do it this way.

If you are in any doubt, just give the passport office a ring - they are USUALLY quite helpful!

Nothing is ever simple is it? Thanks to everyone.
I needed to get my maiden name changed and my passport renewed aswell and I was told I would have to pay twice so I waited until my passport expired until I got it changed.
If you need to change any documents like bills, you can use your marriage certificate.
