Tips for inseting a tampon...i can never get it all the way in

Is it the 'new' compact ones?

Without putting too fine a point on it I didnt realise they were extendable and had to retrieve a few - well I dont follow instructions:)

Put one leg on the toilet seat and insert it until you are past the neck of the vulva then jettison it out.I think you are suffering from premature insertion:)

Yes, squat or put one leg up on something, point the tampon towards the back at a slight upwards tilt

Do as the others have suggested, but completely relax yourself beforehand. I remember those days well!

I use non applicator tampons as to be crude I find a finger alot gentler and more natural. I also coat the tampon with ky jelly, it seems to help it get there.

Definately agree with goodsoulette - ky jelly works wonders. Just put a tiny bit on the tip of the tampon and it slides in a treat.

Does it not slide out if you KY it - although I agree I would have more success manually without those applicators,if that was a technique I could trust.I never thought of that.Learn something new everyday!

no because if you push it in far enough then when the muscles close back up around it the opening of your closes shut completely again. If anyone does find their tampons are falling out I suggest some pelvic floor work is needed.

That's why I suggested relaxing beforehand - it relaxes the muscles & makes it easier - it always worked for me!

are you extending the tube to double its length and then inserting half of it before you push the other end in to release the 'mouse' then remove cardboard tubes?

i had to show my sister. she was just touching the extended tube to her vagina and then pushing the other end.

This reminded me once when I bought super ones by mistake. I was near the end of my period and we were on holiday, so I thought it would be ok. I had no trouble inserting it but boy did I have trouble removing it.

This might sound crude but when I first started using tampons I inserted a new one before wiping myself, so yes there was a bit of mess but it's natural lubrication as opposed to forcing it in dry as it were! x

Also, everyone's perfectly right in saying that you should relx but sometimes putting pressure on yourself to relax can actually have the adverse effect! I went for quite a few weeks struggling with tampons when I first started using them, and the first time I managed to get one in fully was when I slept in one day and so didn't have time to think about it really and big it up into some sort of ceremony! You can only relax if you don't put yourself under pressure to do just that! I hope this makes sense. But honestly it's all about practise x
