I've just watched the German film, 'Run Lola Run' and thought it was fantastic.
I have watched Korean, Kurdish, French and German films recently and adore their simplicity and desire to tell a story, rather than bombard me with cgi and blockbuster stories.

For me it's 'Goodbye Lenin' - hilarious!
Or 'Diva' for a great plot.
admittedly I haven't seen too many, but City of God was absolutely brilliant.

Ingmar Bergman's The Virgin Spring

"Audition" Japanese, quite magnificent. Ever at home alone and fancy a bit of man-hating this is the movie for you.
Life is Beautiful

I love asian horror films to many to mention. I am an absolute sucker for french films.....

Jules et Jim is one of my favourites (shortly followed by Amelie and Delicatessan) all in french

Malena is my favourite Italian film

Does the Passion of the christ count, cause that would get my all time favourite vote.

Oh and "audition" is pretty violent if any girly "il postino" types are gonna follow that advice.
..Amelie is my fave...
Das Boot ! great film

I have two:

"La Cage Aux Folles" (French)
The marriage between a young man with camp gay liberal parents and his girlfriend who has strict conservative Catholic parents.

and "Sex Mission" (Polish)
Two men wake up after many years in suspended animation, to find an authoritarian society in which men are extinct. Their mission is to escape from their women captors, invade the baby factory, and pollute it with sperm in order to recreate a world with both sexes.

I also love Amelie, but if we're allowed catroons then i'm going to have Miyazaki's Spirited Away.

I preferred Princess Mononoke to Spirited Away. I also love Kiki's, Castle in the Sky and Totoro.

Russia - Vor (The Thief)

Hong Kong - A Gai Waak (Project A)

Japan - Yojimbo (The Bodyguard)

"Amores Perros", with "City of God" a close 2nd. If you like slasher movies then check out "High Tension"

come and see, its a russian war film

or old boy

My favourites are Les Visiteurs and La vie est un longue fleuve tranquil. Les visiteurs is the funniest film I have ever seen - a total scream from start to finish

Depending on my mood, either "Life is Beautiful" or "Cyrano De Bergerac".

Another vote for <url="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364569/">Old Boy</url> not for the squeamish, but mind-blowing entertainment. I suppose it's not surprising that a Korean film with subtitles doesn't pack them in at the multiplex, but it deserved more publicity.

There are so many great foreign movies, hard to pick one.

Pelle the Conqueror, The Virgin Spring, Hard Boiled, La Balance, The Seventh Sign
