Can Anyone Confirm Whether This Is True?

That when dogs pee on grass it is only the female dogs pee that burns and kills the grass. I have several patches on the grass verge outside my house where dogs have peed and there are several patches of dead grass. However, the dog who most regularly pees there is a male, albeit neutered? Any clarification welcome.

My male dogs burn the grass too (or the sun scorches the wet patch, I'm not sure) but it is less obvious, because they wee up things, where the females make a patch in one place. If that makes sense!

I would have thought that all dog pee would be acidic

Urine is urine and the acid in it kills the grass. I have had girls and now boys and no decent lawn to speak of with either. As pixie says sometimes it's less noticeable with the lads because of their preference to mark vertical objects.

Also, male dogs are often scent marking and just do a little squirt rather than empyting their whole bladder.

Yes they do both burn the grass but because bitches squat to wee you notice it more in the middle of the grass, whereas as others have said the boys tend to lift their leg up a post, bush or tree.

What you gain on the lawn with male dogs, you lose on the pots and borders, yes both burn.

I've had dogs and bitches and I'd say both can burn the grass, if not diluted by rain or irrigation soon after.
But I'd say bitch pee is stronger and more likely to leave a brown patch, so I guess I'd call it a half truth.
