Hi there, I'm looking to buy a city centre apartment in Manchester but don't have a clue about the area as I'm relocating.
Can anyone advise me on the nicer parts of the city or anywhere I should steer clear from?
Any advice will be really appreciated :)

Salford isnt as bad as its made out but avoid Ordsal and Lower Broughton.
Most of the flats in and around the city centre are very poncey and you should have no problems and even once dodgy areas are now a bit posh eg East manchester, Ancoats, Hulme.
I personally wouldnt want to live in Moss Side or Longsight/ Levenshulme.
Stick with over priced rabbit hutches in the city centre and you'll be alright. There are loads and loads so you'll have no problem finding one.

Well, if you can afford it, try somewhere like Castlefield, Deansgate, Whitworth Street West (but NOT Whitworth Street), the old Hacienda place, Knott Mill, Great Bridgewater Street...
But steer clear of Whitworth Street, Chorlton Street or anywhere north of Piccadilly Gardens as they're full of druggies and prozzies.
