Toshiba Laptop Screen

I have a Toshiba PSU44E where pressure has to applied to the screen on the top left hand side for it to work. Release the pressure and the screen fades out to a grey screen. What could be the problem...power, screen or just get a new laptop? Thanks

I don't believe it's the backlight for if the unit is held in top left corner the monitor is clear and bright until the moment it is not held. Have thought about replacing the screen but wondering if it's more a wiring fault than a LCD fault. Will try an external screen as a short term solution. Thank you for replying.
