However your article about the man going blind is misleading as the health benefits of a vegetarian diet outweigh the risks. as opposed the benefits (if any) and risks if a high meat diet.
By the way you seem an OK sort of person but Veal is just plain sick even those people who have told be they would never go veggie agree with me on that point. its just plain horrific
The point (rather clumsily) I was trying to make is that for every scare story or article concerning meat there are an equal number concerning a vegetarian diet.
What got my back up a bit was that person who posted a link to PETA because I'd''ve thought any reasonable vegetarian would want to distance themselves as far away from those clowns as possible. I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals, but these people hide behind this noble sentiment to spout their militant rubbish.
The comment that 'I'm a vegetarian and so are my children' also got my goat a bit because that infers an informed choice was made, whereas I suspect the children concerned are young and therefore have not had a choice (fair enough, of course if you are a vegetarian you will bring your kids up that way, but please don't make it sound as though they have chosen to be a vegetarian - if they are adults or teens and have made an informed choice, then I wholeheartedly apologise).
As it happens, I have never had veal in my life and by and large have fish as my source of protein, but I firmly believe in allowing people to choose what they eat without the likes of PETA jumping up and down on meat eaters, milk drinkers etc... as though they've just infected the world with Ebola.
I posted the link for PETA because it had the video for how KFC treated the chickens, not because I support all there information. Like the information I gave on milk. I still drink milk and eat free-range eggs. My children were brought up mainly vegetarian, due to the fact I dont know how to safely cook meat or test it, etc. They ate meat at there Gran's house though and still eat fish so they are not strict vegetarians, which is perfectly fine with me. They've now chosen for theirselves to not eat meat (and no I havent scared them into it by tellin them horror stories and the likes).
I've never tried to force vegetarianism on anyone, and yes there are animals that are treated and killed fairly. It's only companies that mass breed animals for the purpose of meat and then keep them in appauling conditions I have a problem with. Even then its everyone's individual choice and I respect that.
To "searchme"
you are wandering into dangerous waters pulling god into an argument for you can never truly win the argument because their is the question "does god exist" which could prove your argument invalid"
If a god does exist though how do we know if he did wish for us to eat meat. it is said that he said we should have command over them. this could mean that he wished for us to live in harmony with them. but it is all flawed because everything in the bible or any holy book for that matter is open to diffrent interpretation
Lightoftruth, didn't surely searchme merely mean that as an off the cuff amusing remark. I didn't get the impression it was a genuine viewpoint at all, although I may be wrong, but it never occured to me reading it that it was a serious suggestion that
a. there is definately a God or
b. he intentionally made animals to taste of meat if there is.
Lol.
I thought they changed the name to KFC because most American kids couldn't spell Kentucky Fried Chicken.
And I had a Colonel meal last night, a mans gotta eat...... tonight I might have suckling pig........... I'm a meat eating man who respects a person choice to be vegetarian, I just wish they would respect mine to eat meat.
