hysteria maybe - the word is related to hysterectomy and suggests the problem was to do with the womb, which was somehow thought to be roaming around the body upsetting things.
Horseshoes I think yours is a better answer ( altho I think the producer meant hysteria because of the 21C 'now' sexual element )
