I visited my dad in his care home today and whilst I was there, one of the other residents, Ivy, had a friend visiting her. This lady, Polly, comes to see Ivy twice a week bringing her something nice, a few sweets, a bit of fruit, a cake etc. Today, Polly had brought a selection of nail polishes and a manicure set and gave Ivy a manicure. Yesterday, Polly took Ivy out for lunch.

Polly is 93. As we were both leaving, I offered her a lift and she replied, 'Oh, no dear, thank you. I have to keep the old legs moving'. and off she trotted.
She is amazing.

None of us know how we'll end up, do we Mazie?

I just hope that, whatever happens to me, someone like Polly will be around to be my friend.
My MIL was 90 when she died very suddenly. A couple of years before, she went to see the Doctor who looked at her notes and worked out that the last visit she'd made had been 3 years before he was born. She took garlic capsules in winter and an odd nip in her tea, she shopped almost every day and did all her own gardening. Heating was for wimps unless it was below freezing and that wasn't financial.
We got a call from her one Saturday morning, a year or so before she died, "Just to let you know I'm in hospital, I collapsed on Wednesday in Morrisons, don't bother coming over if you were planning to" The dirty looks we got from the staff when we arrived!
Well, the news today was encouraging.....

Had a colleague/friend in the States who had a mother at 90+ and she played 9 holes of golf everyday and could manage 18 if called on....she even shot her age which is remarkable.

I just hope that I have marbles - though some may say they have gone already.
Mind you....both my children reckon they won't know when I go dolally...as there will be little change...so heyho!...keep spending their inheritance on shoes, Guinness and chocolate for a long time yet!
We certainly don't Tilly......Just have to enjoy each and every day that we are healthy and able to do all the things we love doing (and some we don't) xxx
Snap gness...mine think the same too, especially the grandkids...I love it, keeps them on their toes x
