First day back at school

The teacher began calling out the names of the pupils :
"Mustafa Al Eih Zeri ?" - "Here"
"Achmed El Kabul ?" - "Here"
"Fatima Al Hayek ? " - "Here"
"Ali Abdul Olmi ?" - "Here"
"Mohammed Bin Kadir ?" - "Here"
"Ali Son al En" , silence in the classroom.
"Ali Son al En" - continued silence as everyone looked around the Room .
The teacher repeated the call .
A girl stood up and said , "Sorry, teacher . I think that's me .
It's pronounced Alison Allen."

It was early morning at an Army camp and the first sergeant was calling out names for the daily work parties listed on a piece of paper:


“Ames”
“Here!”

“Jenson”
“Here!”

“Jones”
“Here!”

“Magersky”
“Here!”

“Seeback”
” — ”

“Seeback!”
” — ”

“SEEBACK!!!”
” — ”

At that point, someone whispered into the first sergeant’s ear.

He looked again at what the last name really said, quickly turned over the list and continued calling the names printed on the other side...!

Sadly it is probably quite a true picture of British schools in 2013.
