I recently sent a post saying I had problems with my pc tower not starting.I mistakenly thought that there was a loose connection which seemed to have done the trick. But ever since that post after coming back to my pc having previously closed down,I have the same problem....no start up. Purely on an outside chance I turned the MAINS supply off and now I have been able to start up.Can anyone please give me a reason what is happening and why? Thanks.

It could be anything from overheating due to dust accumulation in the tower/fans, right up to hard drive failure, it's impossible to tell without a lot more information or a hands-on look at it. You will be best to get a local professional to look at it for you.
I wish I could run my PC with the mains supply off.

Sometimes the power supply can cut out for some reason, and need the mains disconnected for a bit to reset. Might that have been your issue ?

My problem occurs after the pc has been turned off for any length of time short or long, where over heating doesn't really come into it Once started there are no problems. Thanks for your replies.
