...for interesting watch information. For those of you who own a quartz (battery) watch and notice that the second hand starts to move in increments of 2 seconds, I just learned that this is indicative of a weak battery: time to change it...Just thought I share it with you.
JonnyBoy12, the hands will stop only if the watch has a hacking mechanism, and in a lot of quartz watches, the battery is still in use even if the hands are not moving. The wholesale price of the most common batteries is around 20 cents over here.
Obviously they retail for a lot more. The stores here charge at least $5 to change the battery for the "average" watch, and up to $20 or more for watches with more complications.
That's a kinetic type right, gingejbee? I prefer mechanical watches myself: self-wind or manual. I'm always on the prowl for good, old fashioned pocket watches.
