Alloy wheels

How do I get the alloy wheels on my Dolomite sprint to look like new again - think they showed method on Wheeler Dealers but didn't take any details. Please help!

Nice car by the way, I really wanted one of thosae a few years back, are you pleased with it? Anyway, if they are original then I expect they have a fair amount of corrosion on them by now, alloy wheels can only really be refurbished professionally, it doesnt cost a fortune, (a few years ago I was quoted about �50 per wheel). A good clean with Wonder Wheels will remove built up tar and brake dust if thats all that wrong with them.

Depends how bad they are. If its minor, go to B & Q and get some concrete acid. Don't use this very often though, and rinse it off straight away as it can damage the wheels.

If its worse, they will have to be shot blasted and re-painted.

i personaly wouldnt go for shot blasting.

i think it could be too abrasive for alloy rims. sand or bead would be a better choice. the old dolly`s were fitted with alloys from new, so after 20 plus years they may well need basting.

if you choose to clean them yourself tizzybudd, wire brush and a selection of wet and dry is possably as good a bet as any other.

did a set of cavalier rims some years ago, it was hard work and time consuming, but worth it in the end.

silly me spent ages cleaning them up, then painted them with "hammerite" spray.....
