got one for my xmas,made carrot and coriander soup,it was a bit thin and watery but I went by the instructions,should I add more veg.the next time,what would you do ?

Yes, or a potato.
I saw one in Morrisons today - do you think it's worth it, rather than making it in a pan? If it were thin in a pan, I'd reduce it over the heat, and/or add potato to thicken it. Don't know if you can do that in the soup-maker.
I made leek, sweet potato, celery, carrot, lentil and ginger soup in my slow cooker yesterday. It was great. What does a soup maker do that an ordinary saucepan or slow cooker cant do?

grasscarp,when you put your ingrediants into the soupmaker do you weigh everything or just chuck in?what can I do with the soup that's left can I put it back in and add a potato to thicken it,or somethong else.
Thicken with a paste of cornflour and water.
Next time you make it as said above, you need something starchy to thicken, a diced potato and always onions, they help add flavour and bulk too.
I have the Murphy Richard one got it on special at the coop for £39 99. If you fill up to the mark with veg then add stock it should work out right. I sometimes buy the ready prepared bag of veg and if I don't want too chunky soup When ready I use blender switch for no more that 3 seconds . Boxtops the advantage of one is chuck everything in and forget about it till it bleeps. But don't make too much different lots at once or you will be buying containers for evermore like what I did when I first made .
Pretty much the same as using a pan then.
Add less water.
I put in slow cooker as per recipe off internet. 2 stalks celery, 6 cups of water etc. It was plenty thick enough. If I had made a soup that was too watery I think I would just blend it and eat it and do something a bit different next time - less water maybe.

my first time using it so it was trial and error,definately not enough veg,i should have put a potato in it I think.
What a lot of faffing .
I use a saucepan to make soup ,never failed yet and I must have made gallons of soup in my time .
I looked at these soup makers on line ,thinking they might be time saving Not for me .It would probably join all the other gadgets gathering dust at the back of the pantry.
Or you can add small pasta, that will thicken it too. To avoid faffing about peeling a potato you can use instant potato and add to your desired thickness.
Add potato or a starchy veg like butternut squash.
Watched celebrity come dine with me earlier. Sinitta's soup maker soup was judged as terrible, inedible etc so use of equipment does not seem to ensure a good result!
