AOG, you haven't explained how and why the police could or would massage the figures for murder (or wounding with intent or gbh intent gbh, come to that) Your links do not suggest any such thing is either possible or practised.

perhaps it seems that way in some parts of the capital, especially where gang crime is prevalent. This club however is in the west end, i wonder if there was some grievance that caused the man to be killed, like drugs, it was a private party so could have been any reason. I still don't understand how someone gets a gun into a club, don't they have decent security, somewhere to detect a weapon...

The victim has been named, strangely the Daily Mail report on this has been withdrawn, it is mentioned on their web site but when one clicks on it, the page does not load.

Don't think anyone remembers gang leaders, AOG. The only ones that are famous still are the Krays and the Richardsons who were contemporaries and flourishing decades ago. I can remember Jack Spot and the Mifsuds, from even longer ago, but I can't even remember the names of the gang leaders who Bertie "Supergrass" Smalls informed on , and I defended one of their team !That was a well-reported case at the time and there was a TV documentary play about it only a couple of years ago

On that trial, I do remember appealing my bloke's conviction and sentence. What a result! The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction but said that the sentence of 17 years was excessive. No, 17 years was wrong and too harsh. They would substitute 15 years for 17. I can't honestly say that my bloke jumped with joy at this forensic triumph !
